Last year the Yogscast guys brought us a Bee inspired charity drive, this year they’ve gone all out with a Dwarven Dairy Drive theme livestreams – Read on to find out more.

For those of you that have never heard of ‘Yogscast’ and have no idea who or what this is, let me give you a quick wiki history lesson on these YouTube broadcasters.

The Yogscast are a group of YouTube broadcasters who produce gaming-related video content, focused around their main YouTube channel, YOGSCAST Lewis & Simon, with additional content syndicated through a wider network of YouTube channels. The channel initially gained popularity with its videos about the MMO World of Warcraft, though videos about the sandbox game Minecraft brought it to widespread attention.

In June 2012, the Yogscast’s primary channel, YOGSCAST Lewis & Simon, (then BlueXephos) became the first channel in the United Kingdom to reach one billion views. As of March 2013, it is the most viewed and second-most subscribed YouTube channel in the UK, with over six million subscribers and over three million daily views. The Yogscast received the “Greatest Youtube Gamer Award” at the Golden Joystick Awards in 2012 and 2013.

This is the third year running the Yogscast team have given up their December evenings to raise money for some incredibly worthwhile charities.

Yogscast Goat2011 saw the Yogscast team up with Oxfam,  to “send locally-sourced and vaccinated goats to families living in poverty.” This was the first year Yogscast reached out solely to their fans asking them to put hands in their pockets and they managed to raise over £63,000 – this beat the target they set of £60,000

Yogscast Bee Drive

Last year the Yogscast theme was ‘Honeydew’s Honey Drive’. Their aim was to beat the £60,000 they raised in 2011 and the money they raised was split between two projects: The first £10,000 went to ‘Plan Bee’ which provides training and a workshop for the manufacture of modern beekeeping equipment for Ethopian families.  Everything raised above £10,000 went to Oxfam’s ‘365 Emergency Fund’. Now they didn’t only manage to beat the previous years figure but they smashed it with an incredible £211,235.86 raised according to their Just Giving site.

Here’s what they say about this years charity drive on their Twitch page:
