London, 24 April, 2009: NBC Universal Global Networks today announces yet another acquisition for its SCI FI channel’s prime-time schedule. The company is continuing to forge ahead with the development and growth of its UK portfolio by adding My Own Worst Enemy to the ever-increasing list of new show titles on SCI FI. The channel has licensed the first run UK pay-TV rights in both standard and high definition for the fantasy action drama, which spans 9 x 1 hour long episodes and stars Hollywood actor Christian Slater, from NBC Universal International Television Distribution.

NBC Universal Global Networks has negotiated a string of exclusive deals for first run content following the successful launch of SCI FI HD – a simulcast of standard definition channel SCI FI – on the Sky platform earlier this year. The company recently announced the acquisition of brand new Knight Rider (NBC Universal) and Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse (Twentieth Century Fox), which are both scheduled to premiere ahead of My Own Worst Enemy.

“We’ve been investing in a range of compelling, highly-publicised and long-anticipated content to engage, captivate and re-ignite excitement amongst British television viewers,” says Jon Farrar, Programming Director for NBC Universal Global Networks (UK). “My Own Worst Enemy absolutely meets this criteria; it’s a superior thriller, driven by an outstanding cast, high production values and superb scripts that are punctuated by intrigue, action and extraordinary plot-twists. It fits perfectly with SCI FI’s other action dramas, such as Knight Rider and Dollhouse, which are designed to keep you on the edge-of-your-seat from one minute to the next.”

My Own Worst Enemy is directed and executive produced by David Semel, director of NBC’s Heroes pilot, and stars Christian Slater in a dual role as both Henry Spivey and Edward Albright. Spivey is an ordinary man living a humdrum married life that has been created as a cover for Edward Albright – an exceptional secret operative employed by the Janus Headquarters secret agency, run by Mavis Heller (Alfre Woodard, Desperate Housewives).

The two men are polar opposites with only one thing in common – they share a body. Janus controls both characters using sophisticated technology to keep each personality independent from the other. When Spivey goes home to his wife, he thinks he’s just completed another boring stint at the office and has no recollection of the terrifying, 007-style missions completed by Albright during the day. When the memory-controlling process begins to fail, Henry and Edward find themselves plunged into a terrifying nightmare where the two must work together to survive.

British star Saffron Burrows co-stars as Dr. Norah Skinner, a psychologist at Janus Headquarters, while Mike O’Malley (Yes, Dear) features as Henry’s best friend and co-worker who is also hiding a sadistic, secret agent alter ego.
